District
11 meeting:: Feb 27,2007
Meeting called to order by President Jim Barnhart. There
were 13 others present: Janet Fout, Sheryl Blum, Marie Barnhart,
Jayne Chrystal, Mitzi Barnes, Bill Barnes, Art Pickelheimer,
Tom Cowher, Charlie Kline, Ruth Hughes, Henry Swartz, Mary
Hamilton and Joe Collins.
Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved by
Janet 2nd by Art.
Treasurer's report was read by Joe Collins and approved.
He reported income down from this time last year. Subsidy
should be out soon. Opinion is that having to move D11 race
from Columbus and not having it at the same place each year
since may be the cause for a drop of income from that weekend
of racing. Concern also voiced as to whether Mitzi is getting
all the D11 apps by mail yet. Nothing has been forwarded
by the post office to her yet but Cheryl has sent her a
package recently with the mail she had. Per Cheryl she has
done a change of address.
It is time again to do our annual audit. Those volunteering
for the audit committee are: Joe, Mary, Tom and Jim.
Office News- Mitzi reported there have been 96 new
memberships received since last meeting. She will give a
count on how many received for 2007 race season at next
meeting. She mentioned that the Articles of Incorporation
are due March 11. Mary will be handling. The year end report
is due to AMA by March 1. Mary will call Mary Hurley and
let her know it will be a little late. Joe to get financial
reports to Mitzi to submit and each division chairman past
or present to get their own report to Mitzi. Mitzi also
reported she got a letter from Janet Fout resigning as D11
rep for COCR. Bill Barnes will now be their representation
at the meetings.
Meeting room changes: March 27 and September 25 we will
need to meet in the main conference room. April 24 no room
available. Will need to check with AMA or Donatos to
see if we can meet there.
Mitzi ask if there was any reason why we don't post meeting
date in our race schedule. Would give riders and clubs more
exposure to actual date meeting is each month to possibly
get better attendance at meetings. Tom made a motion and
it was approved to add them to schedule on website and in
newsletter.
Mitzi asked all executive board members who haven't told
her their AMA # and exp. date to do so and if they haven't
got a D11 card yet they can do that at this meeting.
Motocross- Sheryl reported that the banquet went
well but had a low turnout. Lots of awards not picked up.
It will be posted on website that awards can be picked up
at events attended by each division chairman until June
10th after that any remaining awards will be donated back
to D11 for next years banquets.
Sheryl went over several changes in the rules by AMA. There
have been several changes in regards to the "C"
class and all clubs need to be made aware of that. All tracks
must now have a rear restraint behind the starting gate.
The 150cc 4 stroke will be allowed in the Super Mini and
Schoolboy class as long as it has a big wheel. 144 cc is
not legal for any class other than open and womens.
Reviewed letters received in D11 office from Ben Rogers
wanting to go back to "C" class. He will be replied
to by Mitzi. He cannot go back to "C". Also letter
from Christopher Spencer and his mother upset because they
do not feel he is ready to go to "B" class. He
will be replied to by Mitzi with the same explanation as
Ben.
Harescramble- Marie reported Krash had only 43 riders
due to bad weather.
Enduro- Charlie reported that AMC had 52 riders at
the enduro. No response yet from Wildwood Lake about moving
race that is in conflict with ISDE. Jim will contact them
again.
Road- Mary reported that Buckeye Beemers race is
not going to be a national and we need to have that it is
one removed from the schedule online and in the newsletter.
Wayne Olson is doing better. He would like any donations
for Rose to go to Heritage Museum to get a brick in Rose's
name. Motion passed 9-0 to donate $ 50.00 to Museum in Rose's
name by D11.
Hillclimb- Ruth reported that banquet is March 25.
There is a pro hillclimb listed on the AMA website for April
29.
Dirt Track- Art nothing to report.
Grand Prix- Henry nothing to report. Questioned if
we are going to have a referee seminar. Nothing has been
setup. AMA has not been much help with that this year. AMA
rulebooks are no longer free according to Marie.
Newsletter- Jayne reports the newsletter is going
to print next week. Need more motocross articles.
New Business:
Joe presented issue of the compensation Mitzi is receiving.
He explained she received $800 for January and would like
to have her bumped up to $1,000 as previously explained
to her would happen once she was up and running. She has
done a great deal to get things caught up and is handling
day to day operations rather well. Tom made motion to up
her compensation to the $1,000 for February on. Motion 2nd
by Mary. 8 in favor 0 opposed.
We need to rebill the last 5 trophy sponsors who have not
paid yet as far as we know. Mitzi will send them all a letter.
Need to get started earlier this year on getting sponsors
for TITH and banquets. Trophy sponsors should pay before
we start advertising them. We may want to consider having
fewer awards for TITH and more for the banquets to draw
more people to the banquets. It was suggested we post the
prizes for each place prior to the banquet.
Charlie suggested forming a committee to review D11 by laws.
Committee formed: Charlie, Art, Joe and Mary.
Janet made motion to adjourn, 2nd by Art.
"A" to "B" petition
Ted Seeley- approved
