District 11 Monthly Meeting Minutes January 29, 2008

Meeting was called to order by President Jim Barnhart with 17 in attendance.  Those attending were:  Jim & Marie Barnhart, Kurt Mosher, Janet Fout, Sheryl Blum, Jeremy Osborn, Mark Shafer, Peter Hapner, Ben Rogers, Bryan Stone, Clayton Fair, Jon Romanyak, Bill & Mitzi Barnes, Ruth Hughes, Henry Swartz, Wayne Olson, Mary Hamilton, Dennis Deeter, Joe Collins, and Matt Eastman.

Minutes were read by Jim, and approved from the last meeting.

Treasurer’s Report:  Joe reported that we have a positive balance when comparing the 2006 to the 2007 season.  However, not all of the banquet cost is reflected, because motocross has not held their banquet yet.  Joe showed concern over the cost for the offroad banquet.  Marie stated that some of the motocross cost was lumped in there, because certain items were purchased together.  Jim and Janet questioned Joe about the gate fee amounts shown for the 2007 Thrills N the Hills.  Joe responded that this is not a detailed analysis; rather it is just to show cash flow.

Office Report:  Mitzi Barnes reported that we have 219 memebers so far this year.  Certificates have been sent out to clubs and promotors.  Also, she and Bill are working to get Harescramble into trackside, just like Mx.

Motocross Report:  Sheryl Blum reports that the motocross banquet will be held at Dave N Busters in Hilliard, on February 23, 2008.  There is an indoor at Sunbury this weekend (Feb. 2nd).

Questions were raised about advancements for 2008.  Sheryl responded that she is waiting on the AMA.  Janet responded that we can still do the C petitions.  Joe asked about the new classes.  Jim responded that we agreed to go along with the AMA classes.  Someone pointed out that the new classes were shown in the Jan/Feb. district newsletter.

Hare Scramble Report:  Marie Barnhart reports that banquet did well.  She got a lot of compliments.  She also announced that Moose has sponsored the district for 2008.  They will be supplying us with various course markers and arrows for Thrills 2008.  Beyond that no racing until March, and the ATV classes were printed wrong in the newsletter.

Enduro Report:  Charlie Kline was absent.

GP Report:  Henry Swartz questioned why he is not shown on the website or in the newsletter as chairmen?  Mitzi responded that he will be added into both.  Mitzi also stated that Bill will be added as webmaster too.

Road Report:  Mary Hamilton reports that the banquet is March 15th 2008 in Circleville.  The 1st road event of the season will be held on May 4tht 2008.

Hillclimb Report:  Ruth Hughes reports that the Hill Climb banquet is on March 30th 2008.  Everyone is welcome to come.

Dirt Track Report:  Art Pickelheimer was absent.

Congress report:  Mary reported that any questions can be answered on the website.

She also announced that Dennis Deeter is a new congressman from the Dayton Motorcycle Club.

Newsletter Report:  Jayne Chrystal was absent.

Website report: Bill Barnes had nothing to report.

New Business:

Mitzi found a vinyl product to help the district membership cards last longer.  Mary motioned to approve the use of the product, 2nd by Henry, and passed 8-0.

Jeremy Osborn started discussion of the 15-10-5 rule.  There were concerns over implementation, and whether or not 15 races would be adequate.  Jim responded that there would need to be a lot of discussion prior to making a proposal.

Jim brought up the issue of things being printed in the Newsletter without any review.  For example: the article about the Hocking Hills Championship.  Jim added that it reflects negatively on the district.  Jim will investigate further into the matter.

Jim asked if we were going to have referee meetings.  Mitzi responded that she will email Ryan Holliday and try to get him to attend the Feb. meeting.  Jim added that we should start an hour earlier for that meeting.  Everyone agreed to begin at 7:00 pm.

Janet made a motion to adjourn.  2nd Sheryl.
