First & Foremost I want to thank Drew Wolfe & Swartz for
Getting the GP Series up and running in District 11. I'm an
older mx guy, 26, that will do mx on occasion now but I've
really found a happy medium with the GP's. I love the mixed
disciplines of riding used for the races. Woods, Field & MX
all wrapped into a 1 hour race. I can be in and out of the
track in 2 hours and get more track time than being stuck at
an mx all day. It works out great for me and ALOT of the other
riders I have talked to about it have said the same
thing. They are a blast to ride and the time convenience keeps
the racing from feeling like so much of a chore. I just wanted
to check in and make sure that the district still plans on
running them for 2008 and beyond.
As long as you guys plan on running them I'll take whatever I
can get and not complain but I don't understand why they have
to be ran AROUND the Hare Scramble Schedule. That makes it
really hard because there were 39 Scrambles this year. Its not
a harescramble. The GP's suffer a little from that because
there will be a 4 week dry spell and then have two GP's on a
single weekend with another the following week. That means a
month goes by without a GP then there are 3 within 7
days. Once again, I'll take what I can get because I"m not
into straight hare scrambles and I realize how much GP's have
spoiled me when I have to sit at an mx race all day waiting
for a measly 5 lap moto. I'd like to thank ANY & EVERYONE
involved with making the GP's possible. I've been a d11 member
since 94 and this has been one of the best ideas I've seen.
I understand the problem with separating the fair & mx points.
District $ issues for awarding BOTH series. That is a tough
one to settle.
THe one thing that would be nice to see in the mx series would
be one BIG Sunday race per weekend that paid points. Other
tracks could run practices and race on the Saturday. It just
seems like the days of all the best district riders in each
class being in the same place at the same time has dwindled
away. It also makes for great racing all the way through the
pack because with more riders in each class there is always
riders around the same pace to race with. When there is 8
riders in a class its usually turns out that everyone rides
alone. I'm finished rambling. thanks for your time. and keep
the GP's alive.
