Minutes of the District 11 meeting held Tuesday April
24, 2007
Meeting was called to order by President Jim
Barnhart with 17 present. Those attending were: Joe Collins, Jim
& Marie Barnhart, Dan Knecht and guest, Kory Young, Mary Hamilton,
Wayne Olson, Cheryl Willard, Jayne Chrystal, Art Pickelheimer,
Bill and Mitzi Barnes, Janet Fout, Sheryl Blum,
Bill Kaeppner and Tom Cowher.
Minutes from the last meeting were read and
approved.
Treasurers report by Joe Collins.
Financial statement was read and approved. Joe will be transferring money
from McDonalds investment account to an investment account at
National City.
Audit review took place April 10th. Review was attended
by: Mary Hamilton, Jim Barnhart, Tom Cowher
and Joe. Recommendations that were made: track cash transactions
better; track accounts receivable better; track advertising charges
closer; update outside contract expiration dates; to streamline website
management; get more detailed membership counts; review State Fair
account.
Office Report - Mitzi reported that there have
been 336 memberships sold this past month. 961 to date - 443 MX;
102 end; 172 HS; 1 DT; 7 HC; 11 rd.
Past due bills have been sent for Thrills in
the Hills trophy sponsors.
Motocross report - Sheryl Blum
Sheryl reported that turn outs have been good
when the weather is good.
Hare Scramble report - Marie Barnhart
Marie has mailed her “Pro” list to
all the tracks to help them better track those that should be in that
class.
Enduro report - Charlie Kline absent
Tom asked about enduro
and hare scramble scheduling conflict. Jim said that nothing had
been changed to date, but they are willing to change.
Road report - Mary Hamilton
First road event will be Mothers Day.
Hillclimb report - Ruth Hughes absent
Dirt Track report - Art Pickelheimer
- no events have run yet this season
GP report - Henry Swartz absent
Congress report - Mary says it’s not to early to start thinking of any proposals that anyone
may want to submit for Congress. Deadline is usually July 31st.
Tom commented on AMA putting the push on sound
enforcement but no RPM data is posted. AMA says that they need a
request from Congress to post the RPM data on their website.
Bill Kaeppner
reported on the new AMA, OMTA club - Hanging Rock club - and their event
they held. New clubs seem to be popping up everywhere and an effort
should be made to get them to join District 11.
Website/Newsletter - Jayne reported that the
newsletter was in the works. Tom asked if the membership ap was in each issue. It is when there is room.
Tom also commented on the charter fees that
clubs and promoters pay to belong to District 11. $10 plus $2 per
event is pretty cheap advertising for website and newsletter.
Thought should be put in to possibly raising that fee.
Old Business
Jim asked if proposals needed to be turned in
on the proposal form. It is only a formality but not necessary.
Kory Young was introduced. He represented
a new road club - Zanesville Trail Riders. They want to get
involved with D-11. Mitzi will send charter ap
to them.
Janet made a motion to adjourn and was seconded
by Marie. Before meeting was adjourned, Jim called an executive
session to discuss contracts. A new contract for Jayne will be
presented at next months meeting.
Regular meeting resumed. Although a
formal proposal was not made, the offroad
chairmen would like a copy of results that are sent to the office.
That way they are better equipped to answer any questions that may arise.
Reminder also that those that are e-mailing
results still need to send a hard copy to the office (as well as the
chairmen).
Meeting adjourned. Recorded by Cheryl
Willard, secretary
