District 11 meeting:: March 27,2007

Meeting was called to order by President Jim Barnhart with 15 present. Those in attendance were Bill & Mitzi Barnes; Mary Hamilton; Charlie Kline, Dan Knecht, Jim & Marie Barnhart, Janet Fout, Shawn Siddell, Ruth Hughes; Henry Swartz; Jayne Chrystal, Joe Collins; Bill Kaeppner; Cheryl Willard.

Minutes from the previous meting were read and approved with the following correction: the 150cc 4 stroke does not need to be a big wheel in the Super Mini class, but it does in Schoolboy. April meeting will be at Donator's - Brice & Livingston Ave. in Reynoldsburg - basement room.

Treasurers report given by Joe Collins. Subsidy for 2006 has been received from the AMA and will be reflected in the next statement. Joe and Mitzi are checking on a new copier for the office.

Office Report - Mitzi Barnes reported that there were 235 new memberships for the month. Thank you notes were received from the Olson and Fout family for gifts sent. Our condolences to both families for their loss and a "Get Well Soon" goes out to Wayne. The year end report has been turned in to the AMA. Robert Sparks called to see if he could petition to return to the "B" class in motocross. He will need to wait until January per our guidelines.

Motocross report - given by Marie Barnhart in Sheryl Blums absence (she broke her leg this past weekend - heal fast Sheryl!) AMS had a good turn out. Sheryl would like to remind all clubs and promoters of the new AMA rule to have the 4 x 4 in place behind the starting gate. COCR cancelled their Saturday race - and had nearly 300 for their Spring Series race on Sunday.

Hare Scramble Report - Marie reported that 3 events had run. A rider moved to the Pro class on his own at the first race in November and then rode the Open class at the next event. He will be contacted to let him know that he will need to remain in the "A" class. Bill asked how far do we go if someone runs a pro class at an outlaw race and then rides a "B" class in the district. Per AMA rules, if he advances at any race - whether it is AMA or not, he is considered advanced.

Enduro report - Charlie Kline reported that he has met with a few of the Enduro clubs to talk over some things . The hot topic has been choosing dates at the sanction meeting. There are a lot of land issues to work around for endures. There has been talk of getting a series going and they would like to get some traditional dates established. Joe asked about Enduro's being on closed courses and bikes not having to be street legal. AMA National Enduro's are on closed courses starting this year. Our events in D-11 will run traditionally and bikes will need to be street legal, with exception of the Thrills In The Hills enduro. It will again run on a closed course - restart format.

Road Report - Mary Hamilton had nothing to report at this time. No events have run yet this year.

Hillclimb Report - Ruth Hughes reported that the banquet went well. The riders liked the awards and all the door prizes. They enjoyed Mary and Wayne coming down too.

Dirt Track Report - Art Pickelheimer - absent

GP Report - Henry Swartz reported that Wildwood had cancelled their Saturday event.

Congress reports:
Mary - nothing at this time
Dan Knecht - nothing at this time
Bill Kaeppner gave a report on the NOVAC annual meeting.

Newsletter/website report - Jayne reported that events are still being posted on the home page with a link. Deadline for the May newsletter is April 20th. This issue they are doing a feature on Rose Olson so if anyone has anything to contribute, please get in touch with Jayne. Jim asked if District 11 gives out or sells their mailing list. We do not do either. AMA will do a mailing for you but they do not give out their mail list either.

Mary commented that at the last meeting, a committee was established to go over the guidelines. After talking it over, the committee would like to see each division chairperson go over their section and then report to the committee with any changes/corrections that need to be made.

Janet asked how AMS turned in their quad results. Mitzi said that they were turned in as an A, B, and C class. Mitzi said that they would not get points as we still only have the Quad 2 & 4 stroke class in MX. Mitzi will send them an e-mail that we will only give points in those two classes until it is changed.

Scholarship deadline will be June 1st.

Dan Knecht would like to see all clubs and promoters keep better track of their D-11 membership aps and tell applicants to contact the office if their receipt is over 30 days old.

Mitzi reported that Lake Bailee Saturday races have been cancelled. Jayne will note on the website.
